Another great interview. I have caught up on all the past podcasts and i would say this is in the top 3 interview wise….the other 2 being Carlos Carvaso and Jon Oliva. Reb was like a 3rd regular..he was funny and I learned so much from him. Never knew he did TS. I am glad he got Kip to do a Rock record as thats what Winger the band should be. Thanks for the VVI play. Too bad this guy is such a dick in real life because he is a great song writer. He can also sing! I have a demo of Tears that John Waite ended up doing. After you hearing the VV version you will never listen to another version.
Another topic idea…older artists that need outside writers. A lot of older artists have just lost there writing or style chops. Alice Cooper has had some crap out of late and I agree there are no more bad asses in his band which he was like Coverdale….always a great band. But the same time Along Came a Spider came out Alice did a track on Avantasia:Scarecrow (Edguy singers other project) and he sang a song called The Toy Master……CLASSIC ALICE! Ian Gillian is too soft. Outside writers for these guys are a good thing. They no longer have to prove anything to anybody. But they can be the rock/metal version of Three Dog Night who always did songs from outside writers….all that were unknown and up coming and got there exposure thru the band. If the Toy Master was on a Alice record and made a single or video Alice fans would did it then when the see this other guy wrote it from Edguy…maybe a few check out Edguy….then they sell a few to new fans….a good thing……but check out the track Toy Master and you will burn A.C.A.Spider.

Yo Snake,
I’m glad you dug the interview. I have to admit, it was one on my favorite interviews as well. Reb is a great guy. Check out the TS record Love is for Suckers. Reb played a majority of the guitars. A pretty underrated CD. VVI is one of my favorite groups from the era. Too bad Vinnie is so self destructive. Imagine how much cool music we would have from the guy, had he had his head on straight. I don’t think I’ve heard his version of Tears. I need to check it out.
I totally agree with your statements on older artists loosing the art to write good material. I agree that bringing in outside writers would definitely help Alice, get back on track. Hell I would like to see him get back with Kane. Now that would be cool. I need to check out the Avantasia too. I have the first too CD’s, but not the Scarecrow. Thanks for the Tips Snake and keep the comments coming Bro!
