Hi Guys
Interesting interview! Never really heard of Devin before but definately captured the whoa slow down ethos of a lot of us forty somethings (apart from a night before a day off work of course).
Agree about Heaven & Hell need some Neon Knights uptempo numbers to temper the doomy riffs.
As for the Brian Johnson impersonation, he was born about 20 minutes from where I live and to say you captured him exactly, is like saying the Jonas Brothers are heavier than Mastodon! Next!
Keep it up guys, makes the walks to work more bearable!

Wow- terrible, disrespectful, unprofessional, rude interview. I know Dev likes to talk, but that doesn’t mean you can stuff your faces with dinners or whatever you were eating during a phonecall. Also, research as to the pronunciation of Ki would’ve taken about five seconds. And that coughing fit in the middle of it was pretty retarded too, kindly leave the room if you’re about to choke to death.
Seriously, this has got to be one of the worst q&a sessions I’ve ever heard. You don’t address anything new with him; I mean, the least you could’ve done is listened to a few interviews which he’s done since he announced the release of the four DTP albums to see what he’s already explained. As a long-time fan of Dev who has collected considerable merch, every album and knows significant amounts about the guy, I’m actually pretty offended that you didn’t seem to give a shit about the prowess of the musician you were interviewing.
Sorry to rant, I just think people who do Podcasts this bad should be set alight.

I have to totally disagree on the new Heaven and Hell. I am 7 songs in and I love it! From what eveyone here and a few other places were saying with the “doomy proding riff” I was “O crap and dud”. But this has a lot of changes in the songs…..kinda has more of a Dio solo album feel. I wonder if Geezer had a magor hand in the writing. In the Ozzy years he was said to have wrote most of the lyrics. On that Metal Show he said that he is glad Ronnie is in the band because he can write. Maybe those 2 classic Dio Sabbath albums had more Geezers pen to them? Still not into the new or old Devin but I will give him this. All the people I met in my life that cleaned up become born agains and if they see you with a drink they are preaching to you. He had the balls to say its all on me!

Hey Zyprexa,
Sorry you didn’t dig the interview. I’ve talked to several listeners and they dug it. Sorry I offended you so much man. I’m not a die hard as yourself but did to my homework, with the exception of the pronunciation of Ki, honest mistake. Devin pretty much conducted the interview and I went along for the ride. I had a list of things I wanted to ask him more in depth, but we ran out of time. If you have heard any of our other podcasts, where there is no time limit, you would hear how we ask the questions that a lot of other guys wouldn’t have the balls to ask. By the way bro, I wasn’t eating anything during the interview, because I agree that is totally unprofessional. I believe I was drinking some water, but no food was involved. Not sure what you meant about the coughing fit, unless you meant during the show and not the interview. I know Genghis was playing hurt that night and coughed a few times within the show, but I don’t believe he sounded like he was dying or anything like that. By the way, thanks for your honesty in your comments, because it gives us critiques on what we need to improve. I hope you keep on listening, because we should be talking to Devin again when the next CD is released. Hopefully at that time, we can get more in depth with him.

Yo Snake,
What up my brutha? I totally agree with you on the Heaven and Hell sounding like a Dio solo CD. It is like Tony and Geezer didn’t contribute too much to this recording, rather than just playing on it. The CD still hasn’t grown on me, but I have to admit I put it to the side after the inital disappointment, and the fact I have a lot of other things to check out, but based on your comments, I’ll give it a spin over the long weekend. I’ll drop you a line and let you know what I think. I think we discuss it a little more in the upcoming show. The new show should be posted by Sunday.

Hi Guys
Crikey and I thought my Brian Johnson comment was a bit scathing, but I can’t agree with the comment regarding your interview with Devin. He seemed so keen to explain his new material that you didn’t ask as many questions as you usually do.
Keep it up, you ask more probing questions than many of the major media sources who seem to go out of their way to avoid upsetting their interviewees.
Later dudes

Hey Simon,
Dude, the Brian Johnson comment had me cracking up. Our impressions are usually so bad, that I hope they come off as amusing to the listener, as they do to us. By the way, per Genghis, my James T Kirk impression has been banned from the show permanently, but with the resurgence of Star Trek I promise nothing!
Thanks for the comments on the interview. I really thought it had gone well, until the comment we got, but to each his own. The first part of the interview was a little tense but then loosened up within the coarse of the interview. Also, high props to you Simon, for observing the path that the interview had taken with Devin leading the way. Again, thanks for the kind words on our show and all of the great comments - keep em coming man!

What has happened with me with big releases is the pre hype. On the MelodicRock.com site people were praising the new Valentine CD….I think its over produced and the songs are just OK. With the new Heaven & Hell I downloaded via ITunes on release day but didn’t listen for a while, then you guys were like its so-so. So going into it I had no expectation….but I liked it.
As with the Devin interview..I don’t see what the other guys problem is. Devin said he stopped interviews then he said he did them again because he had a mission of what he wanted to say. Well he does have a mission and he did run the interview. Even though he takes resposibilty for being an addict as all recovered additts do is that the want to talk about there change over and over. So it doesn’t matter whether you had 1 question or 100 he was taking it where he wanted it to go. As for the title fubar….who gives a F$%k. Is Z an english professor?
Anyway thanks to Devin for not drinking….more beer for me!

Excellent house of Heavy track. It reminded me of Lynch Mob doing a Def Leppard cover and with that heavy bass it could have come right off the Revolution Live disc.
And the Devin deal, the interview might have been one of your better ones. I don’t think you said your usual line “well let me ask you this” the whole time. I actually came away with a better view of what Devin is all about. Can’t wait for discs 3 and 4.

Yo Charvelman,
Dude you are dead on on the Lynch Mob comparison. Revolution was such a heavy disk and they would have done a killer cover. Imagine Robert Mason singing that one, now that would rock.
Thanks for the props on the Devin interview. I think Zyprexa is the only one that ddin’t dig it. Not sure why, but maybe he was eating while he was listening to the interview and got confused.
Dude, thanks for pointing out my incessant need to ask artist, well let me ask you this. I need to work on that one. It is a good segue maybe once or twice, not 50 or so times. Thanks for the comments. I can’t wait for the other disks either, they should contain some killer tunes.
