I have to say I had never heard of Steevi Jaimz, before I heard his latest release My Private Hell. After a little research, I found out that Jaimz was the former frontman of glam band Tigertailz. Not being a fan of that band, I still didn't know what to expect, except that I was is for some 80's laden rock n roll, and that is exactly what I got. My Private Hell is a real treat for fans of 80's hard rock. The disk is full of catchy rockers in the style of classic Motley Crue and Ratt. The songs are structured with that classic hair/pop metal sound mixed with a little blues.
The first track on the CD Amazing, starts things off strongly, by setting the stage for what is to come on the disk. The track is fueled by a cool riff, followed up by a big chorus. The second track Don't Say It's Over, has a, early Bon Jovi sound to it, with a very catchy melody. The cool thing about this CD, is that the songs are written well and all have nice hooks. Jaimz does a nice job vocally, sounding similar to Joe Elliot (Def Leppard), when he sings in the lower register. The guitarist are not real flashy, instead they are more blues oriented. I really dug the production on this CD as well. The songs have a classic 80's sound with an up to date production. All in all a solid CD.
Bottom Line: If you're looking to get your 80's fix, then this CD is for you. Solid songs that make you feel like you're back in the day.
Standout Tracks: Still Crazy, Amazing, Something Good, Something Bad and My Private Hell.
-Ragman will be checking out some Tigertailz.
