Podcast #109: Alcohol
What effect does alcohol have on an artist and their music; does is make it better or worse? We have lost several of our heroes to the juice - as well as other extra-curricular activities - so is it a good thing or a bad thing? Considering that some of the best music ever made was by artists under the influence, is it really worth it? Join Genghis and Ragman as they explore the effects of alcohol on artists and the music they make. After which, the boys bring in Harry Hess for a one on one as he discusses life after Harem Scarem as well as his latest rock release, First Signal.

Great topic! I have kicked this one around for years with friends and I feel drinking goes hand in hand with the music. I think many artists have done there best work messed up on something. The problem is when the stuff takes over your life. I feel a guy like Eddie Van Halen needs to get f**ked up and write a great album...record it. After that go into rehab to get straight and take it on the road. I don't think Zakk was that messed up as I know the guy always had a beer but I never heard of a bad show. For Ozzy who is mess having a guy around like that may be to much temptation. Also when Zakk was drinking he was ripped. Now on the bonus video of his new GREAT album he put on weight. He was on Eddie Trunk and said the doctor said his booze intake is what kept his blood thin with the clot he had in his leg. Who knows.
Great to hear Harry. The new First Signal is also a great record.
Thank God Mel and McCheese were not around for this podcast as the drink have been to much...even in topic
