Podcast #112: Suck
Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 11:22PM
Do not be tempted to think Kamelot or Thomas Youngblood have anything to do with suckage. Cuz they rock.Ever wondered what the worst hard rock/metal song was? There're quite a few, unfortunately, so narrowing it down would be tough. But join Genghis and Ragman as they discuss some of the biggest misses by some of their favorite artists. Next, the boys chew the fat with Kamelot guitarist Thomas Youngblood as he discusses the band's latest CD Poetry for the Poisoned, as well as the status of vocalist Roy Khan.

Kinda disappointed over the podcast. You guys didn't like that you were all over at one point but I do like you guys touching on different things in the podcast. What I didn't like is the "suck" topic the way it was brought out. I would have preferred albums as a whole that sucked. Some of the tracks you thought sucked did and others would just be considered dated while others are great today. Others served a purpose at the time.
Two by Rob Halford sucked as a whole.
Megadeth No More Mr. Nice Guy was that bands way of getting a new audience to know them. Sure hardcore fans knew them but this was a soundtrack and a "known" song to get new fans to attach to the band.
Blur Murder well that track is old school and I don't mind it as its a cover. Funny same time and same year Quiet Riot covered it also.
Gene Simmons Well that track is cheesy but like his "a##hole album Gene solo work is always all over the place. A**hole has 6 tracks that are directed and great and the others are WTF. Same with the 1976 solo record but they were so huge at the time I think Gene was just doing whatever he felt like.
Lastly Winger.......that song is awesome as is the whole album! The harmonica I thought fit the song great and there is a crunchy guitar throughout! Great track agree to disagree.
PS- While your show is hard rock/metal we are all rock fans and for me as long as its a person really playing and singing then I like it...hard or radio friendly. Cheers for playing Journey - Separate Ways. Now a little STYX.....a hidden gem is a JY sound off Cyclrama."These Are The Times"
I reckon we didn't focus on the topic the way we meant to, and that our interpretation of what we were venting about didn't come across clearly. But that's not too bad considering how much we had to drink before the show.
I hear you on those songs we featured in the podcast. Some aren't necessarily songs that suck so much as they are songs that are so different than what we're used to hearing from a given artist that it's kind of weak compared to the rest of the material on the album or their catalog. Fair enough?
- Genghis is disappointed for disappointing one of our fans...
