Podcast #133: Tattoo
How geeked are you that VH is back? "A lot!" Maybe, but will they be able to keep things going? Join Genghis and Ragman as they talk about Van Halen’s upcoming CD, A Different Kind of Truth, and the subsequent tour. The boys also take you through some of their favorite Van Halen tunes as well as what they think of the first single, Tattoo. Next, the boys go down under for their interview with Strange Karma guitarist, Paul Strange, who discusses the band’s debut CD and the challenges of breaking out of Australia. HORNS UP!

Have to say I was thinking this was going to be a flop. Also partly wishing it as after reading Sammys book the VH brother were real dickbags to Sam and Mike, I believe Sammy because he had no problem throwing himself under the bus. Daves vocals will always be limited. Classic Dave VH was simple songs with tongue in cheek lyrics, some spoken work. Then what seemed to be simple guitar was really great guitar parts by Eddie and the harmony backgrounds. They do it all on the new record! The point is really this is mostly old stuff. I have an old live show before they were signed with She's The Woman. At first I thought this was a bad thing. But Iommi says he has 100's of things not finished, riffs ect. And Sammy in his book said Ed would work on something then say..na and can it. Seems though they recorded the stuff and have it and were able to make new songs out of them....ala Jon Oliva.
