Halford IV - Made of Metal

An album only the Metal God could make keeps us pining for the next Priest offeringIt seems like every time Judas Priest takes a break, that Metal God Rob Halford does something with his solo band Halford. The Metal God never rests. Last year Rob heavied up some Christmas classics with Winter Songs, but this year he is back with the true follow up to Crucible, with the release of Made of Metal. Since Rob re-joined Priest back in 2003 fans have been clamoring for a return to form from the band, but they have fallen short with each subsequent release. Leave it up to Rob, to make things right, and release a full on rocking CD.
Made of Metal is not the Priest record that we've all been waiting for (Nor should it be), since the reunion, but it is a step in the right direction. MOM is more of a hard rock record than a metal record. Don't get me wrong, there are some bruising tracks like The Mower and Undisputed, but it's the hard rock tracks like Speed of Sound and Like There's No Tomorrow. that standout the most. This CD seems like a retrospective of Rob's career, because there are many elements of the man's career inner twined within these tunes. There are a few surprises as well, like the cowboy/blues infused track Till the Day I Die. The cool thing about this release, is there is lots of variety. All in all a pretty solid release.
Bottom Line: The Metal God spreading his wings and taking some chances. A solid hard rock release with a metallic edge. A CD full of mostly hits, with only a few misses. Hopefully this is the pre-cursor for what we can expect for the next Priest release.

Have this and while I don't hate the record it is predictable and kinda kiddie in the lyric. But anything from Rob is better than nothing
