Podcast #140: Vinyl
Said hello to your vinyl collection today? Like most of us that bought records before the introduction of CDs our vinyl collection sits in a closet until we get a craving for some out of print music - as we assume a lot of metal fans do. But we know there are some that have long since abandoned their vinyl - as well as their CDs - for the ease of digital music. Join Genghis and Ragman as they discuss how they manage their music collections as well as what they think about the recent comeback of vinyl. Next, the boys corner Malice guitarist Jay Reynolds for a one on one, who discusses the band's newest release, New Breed of Godz, as well as its status since the reunion.

G wondered why people think vinyl sounds better. One of the best descriptions is from James Roth of Roth Audio and FatMan tube IPod systems. He says tube amps with a lossless file on the IPod do the best in bringing the vinyl sound back to you. Vinyl as you said had negative sounds as the record wore. That feedback or static (whatever you call it) actually is a pleasant sound to the subconscience. You can't hear it but your brain loves it.
I am hip. I really do miss that hiss and pop that records make. If I recorded an album, I'd want to find a way to put that sound in there, but I guess that doesn't work or you figure somebody woulda done that by now, eh?
HORNS UP!
- Genghis only owned about a half dozen LPs and they weren't metal (except Malmsteen's Rising Force)...
